What is time for? – A Campaign Message from the Front Porch Party

Some of the most profound and inspiring front porch conversations I have experienced have been around this question of time. In our busy lives, focus is too often on our schedules and agendas – how we spend our time. On the front porch we are invited to ponder how we might invest our time. When the sun finally sets on our lives, it would be a tragedy to only then realize that we spent the day blind to the reality that the journey was more important than the destination.

This simple poem speaks to this reflection and, as Maya Angelou has said, ‘to the reality that we only have so many days on this earth.’ The Front Porch Revolution was conceived as a wake up call to challenge us to lead our lives and not just manage them. In this dark time of the pandemic and social unrest, it is time to assume responsibility to invest our time to take care of ourselves, take care of each other and take care of our country. It is time to invest in our future and stop spending that future for short term treasure.

Have a great day and consider how you might invest your time in ways that benefit your legacy and the good health and well being of others.

I am Bob Lengel, and behalf of the Front Porch Party, I approve this message.
